About Rick & Rebecca Carter
In 2010, we were looking for additional kitchen space to expand our growing catering business. Instead of just a kitchen space, we ended up as the new owners of Clarion Gardens, a full-service wedding reception and event center.
Rick has been a great chef for many, many years. Catering “on-location” was really the only option available to him before acquiring the Clarion. Now, as an event center owner, Rick has been able to expand and perfect his menu. Smoked meat is his passion, but Rick’s expansive interest in varied food cultures makes him proficient in the preparation of many unique delicious foods, from Oscar Halibut to an authentic Southern Boil and everything in between.
Before becoming the Clarion’s wedding coordinator, Rebecca worked as a wedding photographer for nine years and as a corporate and freelance artist and designer. All of this was done while helping run her family’s small, on-location catering company. With this extensive experience, the wedding business became a natural fit.
Since our kids have basically grown up in the food business, all have a love of food. Rachel and Tyrel are very good cooks and experiment with a variety of recipes comprised of high quality ingredients and healthy choices. Their “Instagrams” consist of mostly dishes they create and share. They are also experts of “where to eat”. There are some awesome, delicious, unique foods in Utah County because we’ve probably eaten there!
When Rick is catering large events, both Tyrel and Rachel are a great help in the kitchen. Cooking comes naturally to them, no recipes (or very few) and a great amount of patience.
Chantry, the “willing gofer” between school and work, comes over to help in the kitchen, complete event set-up or make runs to the airport for on-flight catering. He is always willing to make that last minute trip to the store and make deliveries to those who may have missed a pick-up item.
Rachel and Sophie help with the events several times a week. Both are great organizers, love pretty things, flowers, details and setting up for weddings. They are a great help to their mom when things get “stressed.” All of the kids have their dad’s calm demeanor which is a great help coming down the stretch before events.
Rachel’s daughter, Sela has started helping with wedding receptions; breaking into the wedding business. Thanks to Brian, Rachel’s husband, for filling in on event days with the kids when Rachel is working.
Because the Clarion is family-owned, you work directly with us to make sure that every event is exactly what the you want it to be, whether the event is at the Clarion or on location in Kaysville, Park City or as far South as St. George.
Payson, Utah is really not that far to travel to enjoy the best catering, wedding facility service and ambiance Utah County has to offer! The Clarion is only 15 minutes South of Provo (7 miles from Spanish Fork).
Now, we are only 6 minutes away from the new Payson Temple…how convenient is that!
“Come see how our years of experience working in so many different opportunities, education and flexibility can make your wedding or event a memorable and relaxing experience.”
