Payson Temple Brides! We are so excited that the new LDS Temple in Payson, Utah will be opening soon. Now you have a beautiful a temple for your ceremony and we are ideally located near the temple for your wedding reception and luncheon.
When the Payson Temple was announced by President Monson on January 15, 2010, you can just imagine how excited we were. We were anxious for them to get started. However, it was nearly a year, October 11, 2011, before Elder Dallin H. Oaks presided at the groundbreaking ceremony.
Finally, we would have a temple close by. The Payson Temple will be the 15th erected in the state and the 4th temple in Utah County. Our Stake, along with 21 others in the district, have been assigned to attend the Provo or Manti Temple, and news was most welcome to 78,000 members in the area.
Rick and I were disappointed when the temple construction was stopped and new plans were drawn up to accommodate the unforeseen problem with the ground water. However, when the new plans were announced, it was reveled that it would be a larger temple than had been originally planned. Of course we were thrilled.
October 10, 2013 was an exciting day because the Angel Moroni was raised on to the newly installed center spire. It seemed to make the temple official, no going back.
It’s been over 5 years since the original announcement was made and the now it’s time to celebrate.
A free open house will be open to the public on Friday, April 24, and run through Saturday, May 23, 2015. However, it will not be open on Sundays. Even though their is no charge for admission, reservations are requested. You can conveniently make your reservations online.
A Payson Temple cultural celebration will be held on Saturday, June 6th at the LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo. Tickets to the actual event are required but it will also be broadcast at local Stake buildings. The dedication will be presented within the Temple District on Sunday, June 7th, and viewed at Stake locations. The first temple sessions for the public will begin on Tuesday, June 9th at 5:00 a.m.
Rick and I will have the privilege of catering the dedication luncheon in the temple itself on Sunday, June 7th between two of the dedicatory sessions. We will be serving about 125 people: temple workers, technicians as well as the participating general authorities and guests. We feel honored to be ask to serve in this way. It will be a long remembered experience for both of us.
Fortunately, the Payson temple is only 6 minutes away from the Clarion Catering and Event Center, which makes it quick and easy for those who have scheduled their wedding luncheon and reception with us. We are looking forward to serving couples married in the temple and creating the wedding day of their dreams.
Actually, we are surprised how fast our calendar is filling up, so if you have Payson temple wedding plans coming up, call today to schedule your tour of Clarion Gardens.
